As winners of the CBBA triples, Darren Allen, Steve Bell and Gavin Miklaucich went through to the Essex County Bowling Association Group 1 finals held at Frinton Bowls Club where they met a team from Thorpe Bowls Club, winners of Tendring men’s triples. After a slow start the team were 8 shots adrift at one point but made a valiant comeback to be 17 shots each after the 17th end. With West Mersea holding one shot and Thorpe having the last wood on the last end, it was very tense. Thorpe bowled the last wood which wicked in close to the West Mersea bowl and the umpire was called to measure. After the measure, the bowl from Thorpe was declared to be the winning bowl leaving Thorpe as overall winners and the West Mersea team as runners up. All spectators declared it was a very good game to watch and that both teams had played very well.

Well done Darren, Gavin and Steve!
